Who Am I?

From a professional standpoint, I'm a recent graduate of the University of Iowa's undergraduate creative writing program (grad. 2019). During my years at the University of Iowa, I edited an online literature and arts magazine which I and several friends founded. I was also an editorial intern for a short time at the local indie publisher Ice Cube Press, where I worked in depth with one author. Starting in college and continuing into 2020, I edited novels and short stories for no charge to hone my skills and professional abilities.

From a personal standpoint, I've told and written stories since I could talk. I was raised in Iowa City, IA, where my proclivity towards writing and storytelling was heartily embraced. Home of the world's first writer's workshop, Iowa City was an ideal place for a young fan of literature to grow and bloom: I participated in writing groups and classes from the age of 13 until, well, now. I've been a member of the Iowa Writers' Rooms since 2015. I currently live in Ames, IA, and take full advantage of online resources to keep connected to my Iowa City writing community, as well as expanding my writing community horizons across the globe.

My time at the University of Iowa and in various writing communities led me to realize that my strength and passion was not as a writer, but rather as an editor. While I still enjoy writing, that joy does not match the satisfaction of embracing, guiding, and polishing another writer's work until it is the best it can possibly be.
